Wheelchair vans can be expensive.
The truth is there are some who need a van, but simply can’t afford one. That’s why we offer numerous financing options and have the nation’s widest selection of used wheelchair vans. But even then, some people find themselves unable to attain the van they need.
That’s why NMEDA has a nationwide contest called “Local Heroes” where they give away fully equipped wheelchair vans.
Local Heroes and National Mobility Awareness Month
Last year, NMEDA (National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association) started a contest where they gave away wheelchair vans to three winners.
Here’s how it works. People enter themselves or someone they know through the contest website. When registering, you submit a name, a picture, and a little bit of your personal story. Other people then visit the website and vote for whoever they want.
You can share your page with whoever you want so your friends and family can vote for you and increase your chances of winning.
The contest is all a part of National Mobility Awareness Month which takes place during May. The focus of the month is to bring awareness to people who struggle with mobility in a variety of ways. The main event of the month is the Local Hero contest.
They began accepting entries on February 25. The last day to enter your hero is May 10. On May 11, official voting begins and on May 31, NMEDA will announce the winners! For information on participation rules or to see other people’s stories, visit the official website here.
